Clairvoyance, derived from a 17th Century term that means clear vision, is a type of ESP - Extra Sensory Perception. Although usually used to describe a number of psychic abilities, such as second sight, telepathy, prophetic ideas and psychic desires, it is strictly speaking the power to discern details about a person, object, area or event through perception other than with the usual five feelings. A person gifted with this ability is called a clairvoyant - a person who sees clearly.
In parapsychology, the word clairvoyance is used purely to explain information - in the present time and not really readily accessible to the particular clairvoyant - coming from an external source, rather than telepathy, where information is moved from one mind to a different. In other words, a clairvoyant has the ability to see or perhaps visualise events, things or persons away from capability or range of physical sight.
Remote viewing, usually a managed, specific process, is a facet of voyance telephone, as is email dreaming. For instance, you might dream about a location they've got never seen before and later find it is exactly because they had visualised it inside their dream.
This became of me, for example, once i was about to start my own first term at school. As I had never frequented the city where the university was located, my Father offered to take myself there in order to find just how from the train station towards the college. Having dreamt about it the night just before we went, I had been able to lead him to the college along the shortest path possible, knowing exactly where and when to turn. I used to be even able to make sure he understands how long it would take us to get presently there.
However, outside of the field of parapsychology the term is often used to describe other types of paranormal, or anomalous, perception. Most of the time, it is used in relation to the perception of past (retro cognition) or even future (precognition) events. It is a gift many have got without even realising that. To use another personal experience as an example (and I do not claim to be a clairvoyant in any way), a few years ago, a friend's daughter had gone into hospital early in the evening to have her first child. While with a group of common friends around 10 PM, somebody suggested we should contact the hospital and find out how she was getting on. As one of them found the phone, I introduced that a call would be wasted, as she had have a little boy in early hours of the following morning. We referred to as anyway and were advised she was asleep as the labour acquired slowed. My friend explained to me the next morning in which her grandson was created at 5:30 AM.
Frequently, sources will also refer to the perception of images recognized during communication together with spirits as clairvoyance.
In any case, clairvoyance is a precious present which can and should supply in order to help and guide others.
